Works great. Much better grip than the stock 4 prong drive center that came with my lathe. The retractable point is a nice touch. Works great on my Jet Mini lathe. I also bought and like the 1" model of this drive center.

This is a very nicely made imitation of the Sorby Steb Center. I also own the larger 1" version, which I recommend as well.

I also have the Sorby version of this center and the PSI is just as good and only 1/3 the price. I have to put a best buy lable on this one.

I purchased this drive center because the one that came with my lathe often split the wood if the time-consuming precut cross and center hole were not perfect. This one has dozens of teeth and a spring loaded center point. Most jobs require zero preparation. For example, I needed a 5/8 inch x 6 inch dowel for a tool fixture. I took a small piece of a rough split log and in 15 seconds it was installed on the lathe and spinning. Quality is excellent.

Good drive for the PCI Turncrafter VS I bought. I love the spring loaded center. 5 stars! What's not to like? seats in the headatock perfectly.

Nice tool (lathe center) for the price. Well packed in a hard plastic slip case for future keeping when not in use! Bagged and oiled to prevent rust, very nice tool! Very nice labeling and packing, well made.
1/3 the price of name brand and for woodworking lathes it is just as good as far as I can tell.

As small spindle turner I found the standard stab centers were A. Often too big or B. Could split smaller turning stock. The PSI 5/8" Crown Drive center was just the ticket to solve those problems. A great value for the money (as are most items from PSI on Amazon) Standard fit and finish it went right to work on my lathe and I doubt my stab center will see daylight again soon.

Not only do I own one which I use from time to time. We ahve 6 of them at the facility where I teach, these drive centers work great. They even survive the unavoidable drops by students. My students like them a lot, I know of several that have purchased them here at Amazon. I think that is a really great review all of its own.

Nice drive center for the money.
Does not mark up spindle ends much,
nor have I had any split work.I only gave
it 4 stars because it will not fully seat
in the headstock of my Jet mini lathe.It only
lacks about a 1/16" from seating fully.
I plan to grind the tail end off to remedy the issue.
It will,however seat in the tailstock.But since
it is a drive center,it should seat in the headstock.
Would buy again.

Good all around unit. I am replacing it with the same product. Have used it extensively for turning after drilling and countetsinking pen blanks. Good with metal lathes which I use to turn to round before finishing on the wood lathe. Using the metal lathe, I got a carbide cutter into mine and dinged the teeth, then tapped it out of my jet and the center flew out and I lost the center and spring. Not the tool's fault. Even with that I made a center and filed the teeth and its pretty servicable. Better price here than PSI, but check out PSI for variety.

This is a good type of live center, it works great for turning stock of various sizes. I have no complaints about it. Nicely keeps tension on your stock by the backwards pressure provided from the tensioned spring hidden below the tip.

Works great when your tool catches the stock, this usually will allow spinout of the stock thus preventing injuries.

Highly recommend this live center if you turn stock in the arena of 1" square stock for the smaller diameter face will bite into the stock whereas most other live centers on the market the teeth would surpass the edges of stock this size and thus you wouldn't get any bite on the stock at all.
