1.) Vastly better than expected

I have used a Sorby and another similar model and I think this one is every bit as nice as the Sorby, biggest difference is the size of the "teeth", Sorby's are smaller. I don't think this difference affects usage.
In all honesty I was amazed when I opened the plastic case it comes in and saw it. The construction and fit and finish are extremely good.
Update 12/08:
We now have 2 of these at the facility where I teach as well and they have held up great. Many of my students are so pleased with them they end up buying them as well.

Much of the challenge in wood turning is holding the wood. You can use a heavy center after cutting cross slots and a drilling a hole; 3 finger chucks to squeeze the wood; face plates after drilling holes. But if you want something quick to hold 1-2 inch stock with no preparation, this is it. I use it at least 50 percent of the time. Its spring loaded center and fine teeth allow me to mount wood quickly in about 30 seconds. The scar that it leaves is usually less than 1/32 inch. Best of all, I've never had it split the wood like my other centers.
3.) Nice drive center

Works great. Much better grip than the stock 4 prong drive center that came with my lathe. The retractable point is a nice touch. Works great on my Jet Mini lathe. I also bought and like the 5/8" model of this drive center.
4.) Excellent quality.

This is the drive center I use for most of my spindle work. It's a very nicely made imitation of the Sorby Steb Center and so far has held up just fine. I also recommend the 5/8" version for smaller work (the smaller size has fewer teeth and doesn't bite into the wood as well, so this larger version is preferable unless you're turning something pretty small).

I also have the Sorby version of this center and the PSI is just as good and only 1/3 the price. I have to put a best buy lable on this one.

This drive center seems to be made very nicely. It looks good and is a nice size. I haven't used it that much so far, but I like it. It fits into my lathe tightly. For the money I am very happy.
7.) Woold Lathe live center
Reviewed by: tablesawtom

I called it a live center because because it goes in the head stock and turns when the spindle is ingaged. The center in the tail stock is a dead center because it doesen't turn or move when the spindle is ingaged. A ball bearing center in the tail stock is a ball bearing center in the tail stock. I wrote this because a lot of people think a ball bearing center is a live center, including advertisments.
In short I boughttha live center and like it very much. I think it was a great buy for the money.
8.) Great for 'soft' hard woods
Reviewed by: M. Anderson

Overall it's a good tool. Center is accurate within +/- .002, the retracting pin retracts smoothly and the chuck offers better grip than the standard, came with the lathe, drive center.
A downside; when working with softer hardwoods like oak and hickory, etc, the drive center offers great bite. When working with very dense wood like african blackwood and mopani any excess above the normal amount of stress on the piece will cause the spur center to slip requiring you to remove the workpiece and brush the spurs to get a good bite back. Kind of annoying but not a deal breaker. If every other spur were removed I believe it would be an exceptional tool. Either way, my standard drive center is a permanent bench warmer.

PSI Woodworking LCENTSS22 #2 MT w/ 1-Inch Crown Super Wood Lathe Drive Center
Not sure why I bought it. It works ok but not for holding large blanks. I now use a 1 1/4 inch four tooth driver that works great. This sits in my garage now.
11.) Lathe drive center

Drive center does not hold wood securely. Lathe drive will continue while billet in lathe stops, Even with substantial pressure from tail stock. Probem more pronounced in hard wood. I would not recommend this product.
